Keep the outdoor unit breathing
The outdoor unit pushes your home's heat outside. Blocked fins mean higher bills.
Safety first: turn the power off before touching your A/C. Never open the electrical panel cover or the inside of the outdoor unit. If you smell burning, see sparks, or a breaker keeps tripping, turn it off and call us.
Steps
- Turn the power off at the disconnect box next to the unit.
- Clear leaves and trim plants back so there's about 2 feet of space all around and 5 feet above.
- Rinse the fins gently with a garden hose. No pressure washer, it bends the fins.
- Turn the power back on.
Do this a few times a year, and after storms.
Call us if: The fan doesn't spin, the unit is loud or rattling, or the fins are badly bent. (305) 842-0295
